To best serve the needs of our patients and community, Everwell is now offering drive thru COVID-19 testing. We offer two FDA-approved COVID-19 diagnostic tests: the PCR test, which provides next day results, and the rapid antigen test, which provides results within 10 minutes.
To ensure the most seamless testing experience, our drive thru testing is by appointment only. You can make an appointment by clicking here or by calling us at 949.506.1606. During your appointment, a member of our medical team will take a nasal swab while you remain safely in your car. You’ll then receive your results within either 10 minutes or 24 hours, depending on which test you selected.
Next Day PCR Test
Results in 24 Hours
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing is a diagnostic tool that checks to see if you’re currently infected with COVID-19. Using a long swab, a sample is taken from the nasal passage. This sample is then tested for genetic material that indicates the presence of COVID-19. With a 99% accuracy rate, the PCR test is considered the gold standard in COVID-19 testing.
Rapid Antigen Nasal Swab
Results in 10 Minutes
Rapid antigen nasal swab testing is a rapid diagnostic test that checks for active COVID-19 infection. This type of test works by detecting certain proteins that are present in the COVID-19 virus. Using a long nasal swab, a fluid sample is taken and analyzed. Results are then available in less than 10 minutes, making this the test of choice for those who need a quick screening.
FAQs About COVID-19 Testing at Everwell
Which COVID-19 tests do you offer?
Everwell offers two COVID-19 tests: a next day PCR test and a rapid antigen test. Both tests are FDA approved for diagnosing a COVID-19 infection. We offer both options to allow our patients to choose the test that is right for them.
What is the difference between a PCR test and a rapid antigen test?
PCR tests and rapid antigen tests are both used to detect the presence of an active COVID-19 infection, but they do so in different ways. PCR tests detect genetic material from the coronavirus, while antigen tests detect certain proteins from the coronavirus. Due to how they work, these tests deliver results within different time frames. A PCR test takes around 24 hours to produce results, while a rapid antigen test can deliver results in minutes. Also due to how they work, these tests have different average accuracy rates. PCR testing has an accuracy rate of 99%, the highest of any COVID-19 test. Antigen testing is 96% accurate in symptomatic patients and 80% accurate in asymptomatic patients.
How fast will I get my COVID-19 results?
It takes under 10 minutes to get the results of a rapid antigen test or around 24 hours to get the results of a PCR test. Once your results are ready, we will email a certificate of results within 2 hours.
Which test is best if I need a test to travel?
Often, travel that calls for a COVID-19 test requires that you submit the results of a PCR test that was administered within 72 hours of travel. With that said, we strongly recommend confirming which test you need (as well as when you may need to take the test) according to your specific travel plans.
Are both of your tests nasal swab tests?
Yes, we use nasal swabs for both the PCR test and the rapid antigen test. We take nasal samples because this type of sample provides the most accurate results.
Do you offer antibody testing?
No, we do not offer a COVID-19 antibody test at this time. Both of our COVID-19 tests are designed to check for the presence of an active COVID-19 infection. These tests will not provide any information about IgG or IgM antibodies developed from a potential past COVID-19 infection.
How soon should I get tested if I was recently in close contact with someone who has COVID-19?
According to SARS-CoV-2 testing guidance that was released by the CDC in December of 2020, close contacts should be tested immediately after exposure, then tested again around 5 to 7 days after exposure or immediately if symptoms of COVID-19 develop during at-home quarantine.
Do you take walk-ins?
To ensure that we provide the most efficient and safe medical care during the coronavirus pandemic, we do not accept walk-ins for our drive thru COVID-19 testing. Tests are given by appointment only. If you’re in need of a same-day appointment at our test site, give us a call at 949.506.1606 and we will do our best to accommodate you.
